Ristar, released as Ristar the Shooting Star (リスター・ザ・シューティングスター, Risutā za Shūtingu Sutā) in Japan, is a platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis, released worldwide in February 1995. A Sega Game Gear game, of the same name and genre, Ristar, was also released, which shared similar themes, while possessing different level design and gameplay mechanics. The game stars an anthropomorphic cartoon star who uses his hands and long, stretchable arms to both move and combat enemies. Reception for the game has been generally positive, but the game's initial release was overshadowed due to the imminent ending of the Genesis's lifecycle and the succession of the Sega Saturn and other fifth generation video game consoles. While never receiving any sequels, Sega has re-released the game a number of times digitally and on Sega-themed compilations, and has occasionally given Ristar himself cameos in other Sega properties.

Socket the Hedgeduck is an in-progress, unofficial port of levels and assets (art, custom objects, and more) from the Sonic clone titled "Socket/Time Dominator" to the Sonic 1 engine. (The title is a portmanteau on "Socket" and "Hedgehog", since the hack contains assets from Socket shoved into the Sonic 1 engine). It contains various standard platforming zones, bonus zones, and acts from the High Speed Zone as special stages, as well as various other advanced engine features and new content (such as an expanded music playlist with custom SMPS tunes, warp doors, a bonus and special stage zone feature, and much more). This hack based on sonic 1 and made by HyperSonic 16.Story:Its the Christmas season, and everyone is doing their thing. Tails and knuckles go off to celebrate Christmas on Angel Island. While this happens, Sonic decides to go back to South Island (hence the name of the hack), to celebrate and check up on the flickys. Eggman, strangely had a similar idea, but he plans to robotize the flickys, and rebuild his base. When Sonic arrives, he finds a bunch of badniks, and he immediately knows that Eggman is there. So sonic, being the hero he is, he travels out to stop eggmans plans.
